Future Leaders United

After-school enrichment and mentoring that prepares young people for success before it arrives.

THE UFCF FLAGSHIP PROGRAM

Seeing promise.
Preparing future leaders.

Future Leaders United (FLU) is the United Foundation of Central Florida’s flagship after-school enrichment and mentoring program. Established at Maynard Evans High School, FLU was created to bridge educational and mentoring gaps through a holistic approach centered on leadership, opportunity, exposure, and service.

Today, students connect with mentors, educators, professionals, elected officials, college representatives, and community leaders. Those relationships and real-world experiences help young people recognize their strengths, broaden their plans, and confidently navigate life after high school.

A consistent place to learn, lead, and belong

FLU brings academic preparation together with mentoring, leadership development, career exploration, service learning, financial education, health and wellness, and practical preparation for adulthood. Students learn through conversation, hands-on activities, exposure to new opportunities, and experiences that connect classroom learning to life beyond school.

Relationships that keep students moving forward

Mentors and caring adults offer guidance, encouragement, accountability, and support. Students build confidence, communication, teamwork, public speaking, networking, and other professional skills while learning to set goals and make informed choices.

Leadership through service and civic engagement

Service is part of the FLU experience. Students contribute through food security efforts, community cleanups, holiday projects, civic activities, events, and other service initiatives. They also engage with elected officials and community leaders and learn how young people can help shape their communities.

FLU is UFCF’s primary program. The Youth Innovation & Empowerment Initiative (YIEI)Educational Scholarship Program is a separate extension that builds on the FLU foundation with additional innovation, academic, workforce, and family enrichment opportunities.
